Anupam Kher is a versatile actor who over his journey of more than 35 years in Bollywood has brought alive some most memorable characters on the silver screen. For his outspokenness and staunch support to the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, he has time and again attracted a lot of criticism. Anupam's last year release The Kashmir Files based on atrocities on Kashmir pandits attracted a lot of nationwide attention as well as awards.
Saaransh
Anupam Kher debuted in Bollywood with Mahesh Bhatt's Saaransh in which he played to role of an old man who loses his young son and is struggling to get his asthi and a motive to stay alive. Interestingly, Anupam was in his mid-thirties when he played this character of an old man above 60 years old.
Karma
After playing an old man, Anupam surprised everyone with his portrayal of Doctor Dang in Karma in which he was pitted against veteran star actor Dilip Kumar. Other big actors of that time including Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Naseeruddin Shah also played important roles in this movie. However, Anupam excelled as the lead antagonist and attracted a lot of appreciation.
Wednesday
Be it a baddie, a loving father, or even a veteran fighter, Anupam has been wonderful as an actor in almost all types of roles. However, he surprised everyone with his portrayal of a high-profile police officer of Maharashtra in A Wednesday. In the movie, a guy is threatening him that he will bust the city and Anupam moves hell and heaven to reach this guy.
Khosla Ka Ghosla
The actor plays the role of a middle-class Delhi father who wants to build a home. But when a few fraud people cheat him looting all his money, he fights back to show the system what a common man can do. This is one of the most unconventional roles that Anupam has played and once again has proved that he is an expert in both his comic timing and delivering serious performances.
The Kashmir Files
This was one of the biggest hits from Bollywood last year. No one believed that TKF can emerge as such a big hit after movies of huge superstars and from leading production houses tanked back to back at the box office. Anupam is a Kashmiri pandit and is well aware of the genocide that happened with the Brahmin community. In this film, Anupam played the lead role of Pushkar Nath which incidentally is the name of his father in real life.
