Anshula Kapoor
Growing up in the spotlight isn’t easy especially when your family’s personal life becomes national news. For Anshula Kapoor, daughter of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and his first wife Mona Shourie, childhood was shaped not just by privilege, but by emotional turbulence.
In a heartfelt interview with Internet personality Nayandeep Rakshit, Anshula shared rare insights into the pain, confusion, and isolation she experienced after her parents’ separation and her father’s high-profile marriage to Bollywood icon Sridevi.
According to Hindustan Times, Anshula revealed that she was just in first standard when her parents split, and that moment altered her world. “There were families who didn’t want their children to come into our house or be part of any friction,” she recalled, adding, “I started feeling like an outcast.”
In the 90s, such separations were uncommon and carried a social stigma especially in high-profile families.
Her father’s marriage to Sridevi brought added attention. “There was a drastic shift in the way my classmates and their families behaved,” she said.
“Because both were public figures, everything became more magnified,” she added.
Anshula also reflected on how, back then, divorce was seen through a moral lens. “It took time for people to understand that separation doesn't mean someone’s character is flawed,” she said.
Today, Anshula Kapoor is stepping into her own spotlight, recently appearing on The Traitors. Her journey from a misunderstood child to a confident woman stands as a testament to quiet resilience and emotional maturity in the face of life’s harshest trials.
