Amitabh Bachchan stopped filming Yaarana's 'Sara Zamana', got 'electric shocks' for...
Millennium star Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most iconic actors that the Indian film industry has ever witnessed. The excitement among fans is elevating with each passing day for Vettaiyan as Big B will be seen sharing screen space with Rajinikanth after decades. Amitabh Bachchan has entertained moviegoers with his stellar performances and delivered several cult classics that are worth remembering. Be it his comic timing, daredevil action sequences, romantic scenes or emotive scenes, Big B set the bars high. However, did you know, Amitabh Bachchan stopped filming one of his iconic songs and he got 'electric shocks' during the shooting?
Amitabh Bachchan often shares anecdotes from his professional journey with the contestants of Kaun Banega Crorepati. In the latest episode of KBC 16, he opened up about a lesser-known tale of one of his iconic performances while interacting with a contestant from Madhya Pradesh, Swapn Chaturvedi.
After the contestant expressed his admiration for Yaarana, Babumoshai recalled his popular song 'Sara Zamana' from the movie.
The Paa actor revealed that he suggested the makers for shooting the song at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium in Kolkata, which was huge and newly opened. They decided to shoot during the daytime. While the searing capacity of the stadium was 12,000 to 15,000, around 60,000 people turned up at the stadium to watch 'Babu Moshai.' Such a situation forced the makers to stop the shooting and leave the place.
Later, the Kaante actor suggested shooting during the night. He insisted on shooting it secretly without creating a buzz. The entire team flew back to Mumbai (then Bombay) and returned back to Kolkata quietly. The director came up with an idea of placing candles in the seats to create an illusion of the audience. They successfully filmed the song.
Further sharing about an accident during the filming of the song, Big B said that he got an 'electric shock' while shooting the song wearing the iconic 'bijli wala jacket'.
The Deewar actor said that technology was not advanced at the time. Thus, the lights on his jacket were controlled by a wire connected to the electricity. Big B shared that he wore the entire string of lights around his body and the wire was trailing from his leg and plugged into the main switch board.
Bachchan said, "The moment the electricity flowed, I started dancing—not because I wanted to, but because I was getting electric shocks!"
Well, this is indeed an interesting anecdote for fans as 'Sara Zamana' is 'Babu Moshai ka Deewana.' Moreover, this proves his dedication towards work and doing the stunts without a body double.
