Amitabh and Jaya have worked together in several movies. Interestingly, Big B's first blockbuster Zanjeer was with Jaya. They together have several movies that went on to become cult classics with Sholay being one.

Sholay, considered the biggest-ever Indian movie, featured Amitabh as Jai, Jaya as Radha, Dharmendra as Veeru, Hema Malini as Basanti, Sanjeev Kumar as Thakur and Amjad Khan as Gabbar. While Veeru was in love with Basanti, Jai and Radha were in silent love.

Recently, at a masterclass at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy shared insights into the creation of the biggest Indian cinema.

Sippy revealed that he didn't need to consult co-writer Javed Akhtar before making changes to the timeless masterpiece of Indian cinema. Sharing an interesting behind-the-scene tale of the one scene based on Jai and Radha's silent love, Sippy said that it took him 23 days for perfect capture.

The scene was required to be filmed in the 'magic hour' and they had a window of two minutes for the perfect capture. The magic hour was when the day transitioned into night.

Sippy further added that he felt that the moment was instinctively right and after discussing with the cameraman, he learned that they had only two minutes to capture it perfectly.

Sippy said, "The scene between Amitabh and Jaya, there was a silent love between them because she is a widow. This sequence suddenly felt right just at that time when day turns into night. When I spoke to the cameraman, he said that we can only shoot at that magic hour, so we had only those two minutes.”

Furthermore, Sippy added that they planned the shooting schedule of Sholay cautiously so that they filmed other scenes during the day and then set up for the 'special shot' in the evening. With the arrival of the magic hour, Amitabh and Jaya got ready for the scene.

Indeed, the scene portraying the silent love between Jai and Radha was magical and the timing was quite perfect.
