Actress Alia Bhatt, who has been winning the hearts of movie lovers with her stellar performances in different roles, has added another feather to her already dazzling cap. On Friday, the actress scripted history as she became the first Indian woman to be bestowed with the prestigious Honorary Award at the Joy Awards 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The event, held annually in Riyadh, celebrates excellence in the global entertainment industry.   

Alia’s historic win at this prestigious event is a testament to her exceptional contribution to Indian cinema as well as her rising prominence on the international stage.

Alia has never failed to impress her fans with her superb acting skills in different genres. Known for her critically acclaimed performances in movies like “Gangubai Kathiawadi” (2022), “Udta Punjab” (2016), and Highway (2014), she has established herself as one of the most formidable and beloved personalities in the Hindi film industry. In her career spanning over 12 years, she has several hit movies in her kitty, which is a testament to her dedication, versatility, and unwavering passion for the silver screen. 

During her acceptance speech at the event, the “SOTY” actress expressed her lifelong love for movies, by saying "I'm obsessed with movies, it's all I know. I've said this before, I think when I was born, I came out on 'Lights, camera, action.' That's how much cinema means to me."

"One of the things, if we are talking about joy, one of the greatest things in our lives is love. So tonight, when I go back home, I will take back with me the love of the movies and the love that I felt here in Riyadh. So, thank you so much, and here's to the magic of the movies," the Dear Zindagi actress added. 

The beautiful actress graced the red carpet in a breathtaking draped Ajrakh print saree with an off-shoulder blouse. The saree featured a flowing trail that added a touch of elegance to her ensemble. Bhatt's graceful and radiant presence left a lasting impression on social media.

Alia clinched the Best Actress award at the National Awards 2023 for her impeccable performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. 

Notably, Alia Bhatt joins the ranks of Bollywood legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan, who have previously been honoured at the Joy Awards for their significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
