Alia Bhatt and her Gujarat connection; actress opens up, watch

Actress Alia Bhatt is gearing up for the upcoming release of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani  (RARKPK) opposite Ranveer Singh. Both Alia and Ranveer are not leaving any stone unturned to promote their movie.

Recently the actors have begun promotions across the country starting from Gujarat’s Vadodara. 

Alia was happy to promote her film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in Gujarat. The actress said missed promoting her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi in Gujarat. And was finally able to come to Gujurat for RARKPK promotion and share about her Gujarat connection.

While interacting with the audience, Alia said her blood is ‘Gujarati” and her grandfather was a nagar-brahmin from Porbandar.

Dressed in a pink and green saree, Alia told the audience that her father Mahesh Bhatt is of Gujarati descent and her mother is of Kashmiri and British-German ancestry. She said the patriarch of the family was Nanabhai Bhatt, a Hindu Nagar Brahmin from Porbandar, the coastal belt in Saurashtra.

Bhatt said despite being of Gujarati roots, she could not come to Gujarat to promote her previous film Gangubai Kathiawadi. “This is my first visit to Vadodara, so it is special. I have ordered Jalebis here and I am going to eat them later,” she told the crowd.

RARKPK  is bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios. Karan Johar will be making a directorial comeback after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is scheduled to hit the theatres on July 28. 

The film revolves around two families- the Randhawas and the Chatterjees. While the Randhawas include Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Aamir Bashir, Kshitee Jog and Anjali Anand; Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Choudhury, Namit Das and Churni Ganguly will be playing the Chatterjee clan.
