Akshay Kumar to replace Anil Kapoor in Siddharth Anand's Nayak 2?

The buzz around Nayak 2 is intensifying with time. While speculations were abuzz that the makers are considering retaining the OG cast, Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, reports claimed that Siddharth Anand has cracked the plot for the sequel and will produce the film. However, as per the latest buzz, Akshay Kumar is all set to team up with the Pathaan director Siddharth Anand.

Earlier, a report by Mid-Day claimed that producer Mukut confirmed that the sequel is in progress and the screenplay is under development. Revealing plans to retain the OGs in their respective roles, he added that the team has plans to make an official announcement soon.

However, as per the latest reports, Bollywood's Khiladi star Akshay Kumar has teamed up with Anand for an action-thriller flick. Further, the report also suggests that Anand will not be directing the film and will only produce it under his production banner Marflix Pictures. The script for the action-thriller has been locked.

Though there is no official confirmation from the makers or the actors, it is being speculated that the action-thriller might be Nayak's sequel.

What triggered the speculations?

Earlier, a Pinkvilla report stated that Siddharth Anand and his wife Mamata Anand will be producing Nayak 2 under their production banner Marflix Pictures. Similar to Nayak, the sequel will also be made on a large scale with a political backdrop. Further, the report suggested that the commercial entertainer will be helmed by Milan Luthria. As per the report, the makers picked up a plot that will be developed organically as a sequel to Nayak. Apart from actions, the movie will have strong drama and powerful dialogues.

Later, another report by Pinkvilla claimed that Siddharth Anand and Akshay Kumar are in talks to team up for a project. Moreover, it was claimed that the action-thriller would be helmed by Milan Luthria. After the complete script development, it was decided that Akshay was the right choice for the lead role."

Though the latest report of Akshay teaming up with Siddharth Anand and Milan Luthria has no mention of Nayak 2, speculations are rife that it might be Nayak 2. 

Notably, Siddharth Anand is actively producing movies under his home production banner which includes Shah Rukh Khan's King, Saif Ali Khan's Jewel Thief, Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 4 and another untitled movie. While the untitled movie will be helmed by Anand's assistant Rohan Khambati, Anad himself will be directing a big-budget action flick with two actors in the lead. 

Well, fans need to wait for an official clarification about Nayak 2 and Akshay-led flick from the makers.
