Cine lovers showered immense love for OMG 2 and appreciated every actor in the movie for justifying their characters. While the movie is already a hit at the box office, reports are abuzz that the movie was made with a budget of Rs 150 crore.

Clarifying the same, producer Ajith Andhare, VIACOM 18 COO, said that the figures claimed in the reports are nowhere close to the actual budget.

Pinkvilla quoted Andhare as saying, “The reports of the budget of OMG2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay didn't charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial & creative risk involved in such a courageous film.”

Further, he went on to add, “We share a long history & understanding with him as a Studio since OMG1, Special 26, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, and I have been totally in lockstep with him in taking up scripts that are unconventional but stand for something larger & meaningful. Without him this risk was impossible to take, he was fully invested both creatively & financially.”

Further, Pinkvilla quoted a source close to the development as saying, “OMG 2 has been shot in a controlled environment, much like most of the social dramedies made in the Hindi Film Industry. The cost of production is a little under Rs 50 crore. For those unaware, even OMG (2012) was made on a controlled cost of Rs 25 crore only.”

The presence of Akki and the strong word-of-mouth has already worked amazingly and the final result seems to be a huge profit. However, displeasure over the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)’s ‘A certificate’ seems to be intensifying.

Recently, the Selfiee actor surprised fans at a theatre by showing up at a screening of OMG 2. While several moviegoers expressed their disapproval of the A certificate by CBFC, parents also expressed their displeasure.
Taking a sarcastic dig, Akki said, “Kamaal ki baat bataun, pehli adult film hai joh teenagers ke liye bani hai. Actucally yeh sab school mein dikhana chahiye. Lekin aap sab entertain huye nah? Bahut acha laga, bahut-bahut shukriya aap log aye dekhne (The funny thing is that this is the first adult film which is made for teenagers. This should be shown in schools, but at least you all got entertained watching it. I am very happy you came to watch the film).”

Even, Govind Namdev, who reprises his role of Pujari in the sequel, expressed his displeasure over several reasons through his Facebook post.

His post read: OMG, O MY GOD is released finally with 24 Censor cuts n senseless A certificate so that teenagers should not see the movie for whom the movie is made And Censor has passed it!

OMG 2, directed by Amit Rai, emerged victorious with its opening week collections. The current stats also suggest that the movie will churn out good at the box office.
