Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who was previously a Canadian citizen, proudly revealed his newly acquired Indian citizenship on X, formerly known as Twitter. 

He posted a photo of his official government documents, expressing his patriotism on Independence Day. 

Akshay took to Twitter to share a document that noted his name as Akshay Hariom Bhatia. He wrote with the tweet, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind." 

Despite criticism in the past, Akshay has consistently supported various causes, including those related to the Indian Army. He had faced online backlash due to his Canadian citizenship, but now he is officially an Indian citizen on paper as well. 

On the professional front, Akshay is enjoying the success of his recent film "OMG 2" and has an exciting lineup of projects, including "The Great Indian Rescue" which is a biopic of Jaswant Singh Gill and several other highly anticipated movies which include Ali Abbas Zafar-directed Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 4.

He also has KC Shankaran, Sudha Kongara’s next and his cult capers – Welcome 3 and Hera Pheri 3– in his kitty.
