Yes, though Ajay was always passionate about cinema, he never wanted to become an actor. Rather, he wanted to become a director. Well, this secret is revealed by none other than his childhood friend and co-star, Tabu.
Fans are certainly aware that Ajay and Tabu have been good friends since childhood. They even have worked together in several movies, including Vijaypath, Haqeeqat, Takshak, Drishyam, Golmaal Again, De De Pyaar De, Drishyam 2 and Bholaa. Now, the duo has teamed up for Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and De De Pyaar De 2 has already been announced.
Well, during a recent interview with India Today, Tabu revealed many 'lesser known things' about Ajay. She said, "He never wanted to be an actor. He used to make these short films.”
Further, the Crew actress revealed that as they knew each other much before they stepped in as actors, there had been a certain kind of ease and comfort between them.
Well, Ajay's father Veeru Devgn was a renowned action choreographer and director in Bollywood. And, it is obvious that his son gets inspired by him. Even Ajay has proven his knack as a director by directing movies like U Me Aur Hum, Shivaay and Runway 34.
Singham star rescues producers when troubled by Tabu.
Further, the Jaal actress revealed that when producers had issues with her, they reached out to the Singham actor.
"They would go ahead and call Ajay and say, 'You talk to her. She is not shooting or promoting the film.' However, he never ever tried to come in the way of my decisions or attempted to influence me," said Tabu.

She also highlighted their bond and said that Ajay respects her space. Well, it is not known to many that Ajay and Tabu were 12 or 13 years old when they first met. Ajay is a childhood friend of Tabu's brother and they grew up together.
On the work front, Ajay was last seen in Shaitaan which became the highest-grossing Indian horror film of all time and also ranks the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. On the other hand, Tabu was last seen in Crew.
The duo has teamed up for Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which was scheduled to release on July 5. However, it was postponed by the makers and reports suggest it will clash with Deadpool and Wolverine on July 26.
