Mythological action film, Adipurush starring the mighty Prabhas as Lord Ram is shattering box office records. Directed by Om Raut, the film based on the epic Ramayana, is likely to make an opening collection of Rs 40-50 crore for Hindi version on day one of the release. The movie was released on June 16 and the box office numbers are yet to come.

Moreover, the all-India collection of Rs 90 crore in all languages and gross collection of Rs 110-112 crore that makes it the third biggest opening for a Hindi film post-pandemic after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Yash’s KGF:2.

This year’s biggest blockbuster Pathaan had opened at Rs 57 crore while Yash’s KGF:2 had opened at Rs 54 crore in India. However, Adipurush has beaten last year’s much-anticipated film Brahmastra, which had opened at Rs 36 crore in India.

Due to the hype, the makers of the film have released in 4000 screens across all languages in India. Several multiplexes have inflated their ticket prices and luxury seats in Delhi’s multiplexes have gone up to Rs 2000.

The movie, meanwhile, has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and moviegoers due to the poor VFX. Many even accused the makers of distorting Hindu culture and Gods as Bhagwan Ram and Hanuman have been portrayed as angry while Hindu Gods have always had a peaceful demeanor.

On the other hand, the cringe-worthy dialogues and bizarre hairstyles of the characters have left fans disappointed. Heavily inspired by Ramayana, Adipurush features Prabhas as Raghav (another name for Lord Ram) and Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita).

Saif Ali Khan plays the role of Lankesh-the lord of Lanka, Raavan.
