Actress Pranitha Subhash has won the hearts of millions of her fans with her performance in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films. Breaking the hearts of many youths, the gorgeous actress married during the lockdown and welcomed a baby girl recently.

She often keeps sharing the picture of her newborn and husband. Now, an image of the actor sitting at the feet of her husband Nitin Raju performing a festival ritual has gone viral on social media handles. The actress had shared the picture on her Instagram handle.

Her caption read, “Bheemana Amavasya.”

However, a fan shared the picture with the caption, “marry a girl who can do this for you”. The picture of the actress sitting at the feet of her husband has now sparked debate on the expectations of subservience in a marriage.

The fan who shared the photo with the caption has been receiving criticism. The photo has received a lot of comments.

One user wrote, “Nahi chaiye aesi gulam. (Don’t want a slave like this)” while another said, “Women are just fooled in the name of culture and tradition which is deeply patriarchal and discriminatory. Any rational woman should stand upto her rights and respect. This rollicking with such revelry of things which are absolutely regressive is quite unsettling.”

The question is not whether or not Subhash is right to practice a ritual. Every woman has the right to decide for herself which customs she wants to retain and which she doesn’t. The question is, why does our patriarchal society get to decide which woman is ideal?

On the professional front, Pranitha Subhash has predominantly works in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films. She is known for her roles in films like Bheema Theeradalli, Hungama 2 and Bhuj: The Pride of India.

Pranitha Subhash was nominated for multiple Filmfare Awards and South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA). On May 30, 2021, she got married to businessman Nitin Raju in Bengaluru.
