Nitesh Kumar Sahoo

Guru is back with aplomb. Abhishek Bachchan's 'Dasvi' is now streaming on Jio Cinema and Netflix. After spellbound performances in Big Bull and Bob Biswas, junior Bachchan has once again shown his mature acting skills. Sinking his teeth into the role well in Dasvi, Abhishek is into tickling your funny bones, albeit delivering a social theme.

The new flick of Bachchan zooms on the big social issue - education and illiteracy.  Directed by Tushar Jalota, Dasvi also stars Nimrat Kaur as Abhishek’s wife while Yami Gautam plays the character of a no-nonsense cop.

The plot of the film revolves around ‘lust for power’. nonetheless, however, it throws a beam of light on the Right to Education.

Dasvi is a political satire. Junior Bachchan plays the character of a crooked Chief Minister- Ganga Ram Chaudhary.  Abhishek bears the reel role of a disdainful and defiant semi-literate upcountry neta. The plot took a turn when Chaudhary lands himself in jail after getting convicted of a scam.

Meanwhile, Chaudhary’s submissive wife Bimala Devi (Nimrat) was made the new chief minister. She counters the larger than life awkward moments for the political plunge she took from the four walls of the home. Her world turned upside down.

But Chaudhary played the strings from jail and Bimala Devi was in the saddle perfectly. But her lust for the chair-power makes Bimala a scheming lady.  journey. Her fascination for the chair was so blind that she also doesn’t want her hubby's release from the jail. Because she could lose her pelf and the power of CM.

The change in the scene here has been that jailed Chaudhary developed interest in books while planning to escape from jail. Here is the screen show where he is challenged by Jyoti Deswal (Yami) to pass matriculation after getting humiliated for being 8th pass.

Chaudhary’s intentions get stronger with each day. In the due course, he relives the history before India’s independence.

Overall, the film was quite amusing and Bachchan’s character portrayal was superb. Though the flick got an 8.5 stars rating from IMDb and several others also have been credited with good stars, many found the screenplay to be lethargic. It was not just Bachchan who pulled out his character in the best way, Yami and Nimrat’s character portrayals also are praiseworthy.

Dasvi is a new feather in Junior Bachchan's cap. This is a straight slap to the troll army.

While Dasvi delves into a social issue, Bachchan tickled the funny bones with his punchlines and one-liners.

Abhishek Lavishes Wife Aishwarya

Abhishek is quite proud of his wife and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The actor showered praises on Aish for being an amazing wife and also a dedicated mother to their ten-year-old daughter Aaradhya.

When asked about his contribution to helping his daughter with her homework, Bachchan honestly said, “No.”
Further clarifying, he said, “I tried once or twice but that is completely Aishwarya. She is an unbelievable mother for her dedication to Aaradhya."
