Aamir Khan controversies that affected his stardom over the years

Aamir Khan is currently on a hiatus as an actor. The big superstar of Bollywood who has given some of the most massive hits both as a producer and an actor is currently facing a decline in his stardom as his last few movies flopped badly and even negatively targeted on social media. But it did not happen all of a sudden.

Over the years a few controversial statements by Aamir Khan and the presentation of some sensitive topics negatively on the screen have impacted his overall image. And it ultimately led to the downfall in his popularity as an actor.

India is intolerant - Aamir Khan once said

The actor sparked outrage in 2015 when he said that his wife Kiran Rao finds that India has become an intolerant country and that she feels uneasy here and wants to leave India. This statement did not go down well with most Indians and even Bollywood actors like Anupam Kher and Paresh Rawal who earlier worked with Aamir opposed and condemned this statement.

Cold war between SRK and Aamir

Though today the three Khans- Aamir, Salman, and Shah Rukh share a good rapport, there was a cold war between SRK and Aamir. The latter even insulted Shah Rukh by saying that the name of his dog is Shah Rukh. It was not well received by fans of Bollywood's Badshah and the Dil actor received a lot of flak for the same.

Negative portrayal of Hindu Gods in PK

Majority of Hindus were not happy with the way Aamir's character targeted some of the practices and rituals in Rajkumar Hirani-directed movie PK. While the responsibility of such content ultimately should go with the producer and director and then to the actor, people mostly targeted Aamir Khan for it and trolled him for such a negative portrayal of Hinduism on the silver screen.

Aamir and award functions

The actor was highly expecting the best actor award for Dil during his earlier days. The movie was a big hit but Aamir did not win the award. Since then he has maintained that such awards are biased and usually does not attend such award functions.

Illegitimate child with British journalist

Reportedly, the superstar has an illegitimate child with a British journalist whom he met during the shooting of Ghulam. At that time Aamir Khan was already married and was a father and hence asked the reporter named Jessica Hines to abort the child. But she refused to abort it and brought up their son Jaan in London as a single parent.
