SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning changed the way the entire world looked at Indian cinema. Even before this mega-flick Bollywood as well as other regional filmmakers had tried using VFX and CGI. But the way Rajamouli visualised the scenes and translated them into reality on the screen with good contributions from actors like Prabhas and Rana Daggubati was something no one had dared to believe, execute, or establish.

The movie introduced a completely new language

The team of Rajamouli created a new language for the tribe of Kalakeya called KiliKil with 748 words and around 40 grammar rules. It was a first-of-its-kind experiment.

Rana Daggubati gained weight

The Ghazi Attack hero who played the powerful and mean character of Bhallal Deva had to gain 33 kgs of weight for Baahubali: The Beginning. For that, he used to eat 40 egg whites every day.

Biggest VFX team

The Baahubali franchise employed one of the biggest VFX teams with around 600 VFX artists from 18 different faculties working on the franchise. The two companies actively involved in VFX were Makuta and Firefly, Hyderabad.

SS Rajamouli had first approached Sridevi for the role of Sivagamini. However, the remuneration she demanded was too huge for the budget, so the role went to Ramya Krishnan who made it unforgettable with her splendid performance.

Ramoji City, Bulgaria, Kerala

Most of the portion of the movie was shot in Ramoji City, Hyderabad while the shots in the snow were taken in Bulgaria. But the beautiful waterfall sequence which is one of the most important parts of the movie was shot in Athirapally, Kerala. It took the entire team of the franchise 109 days to shoot the war sequence.

Prabhas gave 5 years to Baahubali

The Rebel star did not sign any new project for five years and dedicatedly worked for Baahubali . To gain the required physique for the movie, Prabhas invested 1.5 crore in special gym equipment and even met several WWE bodybuilders to understand the basics of bodybuilding.
