The Miss World pageant is being held in India after a gap of 28 long years. Naturally, there is a lot of anticipation as the 71st Miss World contest begins today February 20 evening with an opening ceremony to be held at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi. The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) will be the host at this opening ceremony where the “India Welcomes the World Gala” festivities will kick off.
Month-long ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ Miss World Pageant
The month-long ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ contest will be streamed live on missworld.com. After the opening ceremony, the beauties from different countries will have to participate in various tasks assigned to them and the one who completes all the parameters successfully will be able to reach the finals.
The Miss World Global Finale will be held on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The Femina Miss India World 2022 Sini Shetty will be representing India at this esteemed event. Around 120 beauties across the world will be participating in this year’s Miss World contest. India has won the Miss World pageant multiple times starting from Reita Faria (1956), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017).
What will be held and where?
After the opening ceremony, the Continental Beauty with a Purpose Challenge will be held on February 21 at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. Similarly, many other competitions will be held across different major cities in the country. However, most of these competitions will be held in New Delhi and Mumbai.
Apart from the Miss World finale, Mumbai will also host the World Top Designer Award and Miss World Top Model competitions. The Miss World Sports Challenge competition will take place in New Delhi. The capital city of India will also host the Multi-Media Challenge as well as the Head-to-Head Challenge at The Summit Room at Bharat Mandapam on February 23.
The Miss World Red Carpet Special competition will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.
