Bollywood gem Vikrant Massey’s ‘12th Fail’ emerged as the best film and highest-rated movie of the year. The movie has beaten Hollywood biggies like Oppenheimer and Barbie to become the world’s best film of 2023.

Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film secured the top spot with an impressive IMDB rating of 9.2 out of 10. Starring versatile actor Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in pivotal roles, the film narrates the inspiring journey of a UPSC aspirant.

Meanwhile, Bollywood’s queen Kangana Ranaut heaped praises on Vikrant and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Kangana lauded Vikrant’s acting talent and even compared him to late actor Irrfan. She added that he had the potential to fill the void left by the late Irrfan Khan.

“What a terrific film… Coming from a Hindi medium myself, belonging to a rural village and being a general caste student for entry tests without reservations in my school years, I was weeping throughout the film, uff never cried so much in a flight, my co passengers were stealing concerned glares at me, I am embarrassed,” she wrote in her Instagram stories.

She continued, “Vidhu sir has won my heart all over again. Vikrant Massey is beyond amazing! In his coming years he might just fill the void Irfan Khan saab left behind… salutations to your talent dear one.”

If reports are to be believed, the film has been submitted for consideration at the Oscars as an independent nomination. Produced on a minimal budget of Rs 20 crore, the film managed to cross Rs 66 crore in the worldwide box office.

Moreover, the movie has been receiving overwhelming response from audiences after it was launched on Hotstar.
