Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer period action film 'Shamshera' hit the theatres on Friday, but the movie failed to meet the expectations of a larger section of the audience.

While some compared it to Thugs Of Hindostan (one of the most disastrous movies of the Indian film industry), Shamshera was also tagged as a big, bad and messy movie.

On-screen, in Shamsherain, Ranbir may have single-handedly brought the entire British Empire to heel, but he failed to mesmerise or even keep audience hooked to their seats for 159 minutes.

The makers of the movie had went for a massive promotion. Even Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram to show appreciation for her husband, Ranbir Kapoor. However, nothing seems to have worked in favour of the movie.

Indian film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh tagged Shamshera as 'UNBEARABLE'. "Brings back memories of #ThugsOfHindostan… Even #RanbirKapoor’s star-power cannot save this ship from sinking… EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT," wrote Taran.

Besides, some call for the boycott of the movie accusing the makers of hurting the hindu sentiments through the movie and the characters in it.

Amid all these negative reviews, Twitterati trend #BoycottShamshera on the micro blogging site on Saturday. "Bollywood has become a waste. It lacks good content. Shamshera is mostly have a far-sided, immature story-line, poor VFX and disappointing climax. We have lost hopes on Bollywood films," said a movie lover.

Meanwhile, Ranbir will be next seen with Alia in mythological fantasy adventure film 'Brahmastra'.
