After the stupendous success of ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Kerala Story’ despite calls for ban of the movies, National-award winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s upcoming movie ’72 Hoorain’ is now facing obstacles ahead of its release.

The much-awaited film has run into controversy after CBFC denied a certificate for the promo of the movie. Nevertheless, the makers of the film have released the trailer which is receiving a lot of love and positive reviews from the audience.

However, a section of people have been terming it a ‘propaganda’ movie and are calling for its ban on social media. Amid the controversy, director Sanjay has finally opened up on the movie and shut down all the ‘propaganda’ rumours.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Sanjay revealed that the film talked about terrorism and was not any propaganda.

“The film talks about terrorism, and terrorism definitely affects the social fabric of society as it divides people. The film talks about that. I don’t think you’ll be able to understand the correct context to the film until you watch it,” Sanjay was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Further answering if the film targeted a particular community, Sanjay said, “Many films have been made on terrorism and 72 Hoorain is one of them. Don’t put it under a certain category.”

“We wanted to tell something through this film and tell it effectively. Films based on sensitive matters already face a lot of issues and some brand the film in a certain way without even watching it. Even if I agree with what you’re saying, why don’t you want to listen to the other side of the story?” he questioned.

“When you watch films on serious issues like this, people might gain some perspective to think,” he concluded.

For the unversed, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan is an Indian director and screenwriter, who is known for his internationally, acclaimed film ‘Lahore’. He won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director at the 2009 National Film Award.
