What will be next move of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) following the massive demand to reduce the weightage of Term 1 examination... Will the Board consider the request?

Now, apart from the CBSE Class 10 and 12 students, some private schools have also urged the Board to slash the weightage of the Term I exam for the 2021-2022 session.

It is alleged that many schools adopted unfair means and malpractices while marking students during the Term 1 exams for the 2021-2022 academic session.

The National Progressive Schools' Conference (NPSC) has written a letter to the CBSE Chairperson suggesting that the Term II exam weightage should be increased in the range of 70 per cent to 80 per cent.

"It was observed that during the Term I examinations, which were conducted at the home centres, many schools adopted unfair means and malpractices. Consequently, many students of these schools scored full marks in most of the subjects. We are sure that CBSE must also have received a similar feedback on this issue," the letter read.

CBSE had earlier informed that the weightage of Term I and Term II exams will be decided at the time of declaration of Term II result and accordingly, the final performance will be calculated.

Besides, earlier, students had also urged the Board to increase the Term 2 weightage citing similar reasons.

With the CBSE Term 2 exams set to begin from April 26, all eyes are now on the next move of the Board as to whether it considers the demand or goes forward as per its earlier decision.
