With his sheer determination and hard work, Bibhu Prasad Singh cracked the Odisha Civil Services examination 2020, the results of which were announced by the Odisha Public Service Commission recently.

Hailing from Gopalpur Naigaon under Mahanga block in Cuttack district, Singh proved that all we need is strong willpower to make our dreams come true even in an adverse situation. At the age of 27, the village boy cleared the prestigious OCS exam with flying colours.

At a time when civil services aspirants go for coaching classes to qualify the exam, this village lad prepared himself for examination without taking help of any coaching and lived up to the expectation of his grandmother who always wanted to see him as a bureaucrat.

Instead of looking for experts to guide him, he self-studied his way to the 15th rank in the OCS exam this year -- that too on his very second attempt.

Talking to OTV, an overwhelmed Bibhu said, I am really very happy with the result. It’s the outcome of my long wait and hard work. I would like to owe my success to Almighty and my entire family. Their constant support and encouragement helped me crack the OCS.”

Having said this, the villagers of Naigaon want him to tackle the problems faced in rural areas.

“Each and every member of my family is happy for him. His grandmother wanted to see him as a bureaucrat. He made her proud today,” said Bibhu’s proud mother Satyabhama Singh.

Similarly, his father Bijay Kumar said, “It was possible because of hard work and sheer determination. His love for knowing things and getting into it made things easier for Bibhu. His quest for gaining knowledge distinguishes from others.”
