The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Friday warned students and other stakeholders of taking admissions in any educational intuitions in Pakistan.

In its latest advisory, the UGC has said that all are advised not to travel to Pakistan to pursue higher education. Those taking admissions, will not be eligible for further studies and employment in India.

“Any Indian national/overseas citizen of India who intends to take admission in any degree college/educational institution of Pakistan shall not be eligible for seeking employment or higher studies in India on the basis of such educational qualifications (in any subject) acquired in Pakistan,” the UGC, AICTE notice read.

However, migrants and their children who have acquired higher education degree in Pakistan and have been awarded citizenship by India would be eligible for seeking employment in India after obtaining security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Last month, UGC had a public notice regarding admissions in Universities in China. The Commission had advised students to exercise due diligence in choosing where to pursue higher education to avoid further problems in employment or higher studies.

“In this context, any prospective student needs to be aware that the Government of People’s Republic of China has imposed strict travel restrictions in the wake of COVID-19 and suspended all visas since November 2020,” the UGC notice read.
