A list of eligible Higher Educational Institutes (HEI) has been released by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to provide online programmes for the academic year 2021-22, which commences in November 2021 and culminates in November 2022.

The list of these recognized universities can be checked on the UGC's official website, www.ugc.ac.in.

Two universities, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies in Faridabad (Deemed to be University) and G.L.A University in Mathura (Private University), have been added to the list to offer open and distance learning programmes as well as online programmes for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses for the academic year 2021-22, the Commission stated in its notification dated December 2, 2021. 

While, the UGC has released the list of qualifying HEIs based on the applications received under UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programs and Online Programs), the programmes that fall under the purview of the Regulatory Authorities were evaluated based on the communication/recommendation received from each Regulatory Authority.

The Commission further notified that it would announce the last date for admission for each academic session, and HEIs must post the admission details within fifteen days.

The Commission in its 551st meeting held on 1st July 2021 decided that the academic session of July 2021 shall be changed to November 2021. The deadline to apply for the November academic session is December 15, 2021, informed the release.
