The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon announce the UGC NET December 2024 exam result at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Once it is announced, candidates will be able to check their results using application number and date of birth.
The UGC NET December 2024 exam was held on January 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, 21 and 27, 2025.
As the result document will have category-wise cut-off marks for all subjects, know the previous cutoff trends and category-wise analysis:
An analysis of the previous UGC NET cutoff trends reveals significant variations across subjects and categories. For the June 2024 session, general category cutoffs ranged from 59.75% (179 marks) in Political Science to 72% (216 marks) in Computer Science.
Reserved category candidates typically enjoy 5-7% relaxation, with OBC-NCL requiring 35% aggregate (105/300) compared to UR's 40% (120/300). The cutoff determination follows a rigorous process where only top 6% candidates per subject qualify for Assistant Professor.
The data also shows cutoffs increasing by around 3-5% annually for competitive subjects like Management and Economics due to rising applicant quality.
Successful candidates receive digital certificates through DigiLocker approximately 4-6 weeks after declaration of the result. The e-certificate contains security features like QR codes and digital signatures to prevent forgery.
UGC NET JRF awards remain valid for 3 years from result date for fellowship claims while the eligibility for Assistant Professor is for lifetime. A 2024 upgrade enables automatic certificate updates for candidates qualifying in multiple subjects through the National Academic Depository portal.
The provisional answer key challenge process typically results in 2-4% question modifications across subjects. In December 2023 session, 18,743 challenges were filed leading to 89 answer changes.
However, statistics show only 0.7% of challenges get accepted annually due to stringent expert verification. Modified answers can cause percentile shifts of up to 1.5% in competitive subjects. The Rs 200 per question challenge fee acts as deterrent with only 12% of candidates filing objections despite common complaints about ambiguous questions.
JRF awards are allocated through a dual merit-cum-reservation system where top 1-2% qualifiers receive fellowships. In December 2023, 3,217 JRF slots were distributed across categories with STEM subjects receiving 68% allocations.
The fellowship amount was revised in 2024 to Rs 42,800 per month for initial two years with contingency grants of Rs 25,000 a year. A unique horizontal reservation of 5% exists for PwD candidates within each category since 2022.
