UGC invites applications for fellowship, research grant schemes for 2022

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited online applications from eligible candidates under multiple fellowship/research grant schemes for 2022.

As per the UGC circular, the last date for receiving the online applications is October 10, 2022.

Details of fellowship/research grant schemes:

i. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship

ii. Dr. D.S. Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members

iii. Research Grant for In-service Faculty Members

iv. Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members (Emeritus Fellowship)

v. Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child (SJSGC)

Dr. S. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Slots: 900 The slots will be allocated as per Govt. of India reservation policy. However 30% slots will be reserved for the women candidates.

Nature of Assistance available under the Scheme:

Fellowship: Rs 50,000 per month

Contingency: Rs 50,000 per annum

Escorts/Reader Assistance: Rs.3000 per month (fixed) in cases of PWD (Person with disability)

Dr. D.S. Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members

Tenure: 2 years Slots: 132

Financial Assistance: The quantum of support under the scheme is Rs.10 Lakh The grant can be utilized for purchasing items like minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, fieldwork, travel etc. The grant cannot be used for international travel, purchasing furniture items or for appointing project assistant or research fellow.

Research Grant for In-service Faculty Members

Tenure: 2 years.

Slots: 200 or as may be decided by the Commission

Financial Assistance: The quantum of support under the scheme is Rs.10 Lakh

Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members (Emeritus Fellowship)

Tenure: 3 years or upto 70 years whichever is earlier.

Slots: 100 per annum or as may be decided by the Commission

Financial Assistance:

Fellowship: Rs. 50,000 per month.

Contingency: Rs.50,000 per annum

Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child (SJSGC)

Tenure: The tenure of the fellowship is five years and will be effective from 1st April of the selection year or the actual date of joining under the fellowship in the University/College/Institute, whichever is later. Fellowship will be granted upto the date of submission of Ph.D. Thesis or 5 years of tenure whichever is earlier.

Financial Assistance:

Fellowship JRF @ Rs. 31,000 per month for initial two years

SRF @ Rs. 35,000 per month for remaining tenure

Contingency For Humanities and Social Sciences @ Rs. 10,000 per annum for initial two years

@ Rs. 20,500 per annum for remaining tenure

For Science, Engineering and Technology @ Rs.12,000 per annum for initial two years

@ Rs.25,000 per annum for remaining tenure

Escort Reader Assistance: @ Rs. 3,000 per month in case of ‘Divyang’ scholars.
