In a much respite to scores of students, the Odisha government has modified previous guidelines and allowed students, who have already taken admission in phase I of UG counselling, to participate in the Phase II admission process under SAMS.

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj on Saturday informed that a lot of students had taken admissions and some others were left out. Earlier, the department had announced that the students, who had locked their choice, would not be eligible for second-phase admission.

“It was mentioned in the guidelines. However, many students were not aware as most of them had applied through centres. The department had come up with such a decision as the admission process is getting stretched. As new rules are being implemented and the government has now allowed these students after they had put forth their requests,” said Suraj.

According to the Higher Education Minister, in view of the larger interests of the students, the process has now been revised to give a chance to the left-out students.
