A High School In Odisha
The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has decided to hold an awareness programme on road safety with students and parents on April 22.
The discussion will be conducted in the last period on April 22 which will be joined by all the students and their parents.
The OSEPA has directed experienced teachers to conduct the programme on that day.
A notice issued in this connection read, “Sometimes children meet with accidents on road. Lack of awareness of traffic rules is one of the major reasons behind such incidents. Keeping this in view, School Students Helpline, OSEPA, School & Mass Education (S&ME) Department has developed a discussion point which will be shared with the children to make them aware of the Traffic rules. All the children from class I to X will participate in the sharing programme.”
The students will be taught why rules are there and their importance in keeping the roads safe for driving.
“Rules are framed to have a disciplined society. If there is no rule and everyone wants to do whatever he/she wishes to do then there will be chaos all around. There are some rules which are very informal such as rules at home, school etc. Breaking these rules may not invite any legal complicacy and punishments accordingly. But there are also some important rules which are codified and applicable to everyone in a society. These rules are known as laws and breaking these rules can have more serious consequences such as imprisonment or penalty. Similarly on roads, if we don't follow the traffic rules then no one will be able to reach the destination on time,” the notice read.
