We have seen many actors launching their kids in the same film industry. An actor’s son automatically finds a place in the film industry. But renowned Tamil actor Chinni Jayanth’s son defied the norm and instead made an identity of his own.

Instead of joining the film industry and following in the footsteps of his father, Chinni’s son Shrutanjaya Narayanan cracked UPSC with an impressive All India Rank (AIR)-75 to become an IAS officer.

His journey from a filmy background to cracking the UPSC is an inspiration for several aspirants who want to become IAS, IFS, IPS, or the IRS.

DNA India report revealed that Narayanan was an all-rounder from his school days. He was focused on his studies, but also played an active part in the cultural society, school plays and other events in the school. He was very good in theatre and acting too.

However, his parents wanted him to continue his studies as he was among the toppers in his class. After school, he went on to pursue his graduation from the College of Engineering, Guindy. Later, he opted for a Master's from Ashoka University.

After completing his Master's, he got a lucrative job in a start-up and was earning well. However, it was during this time that he decided to give the UPSC Civil Services Exam a try. Instead of leaving his job, he took up the night shift and focused on his studies during the day, reported DNA India.

He studied diligently every day for 4-5 hours despite being tired after the night shift. Later, he started to prepare for 10-12 hours as the exam came nearer. His hard work finally paid off and he secured an AIR-75 to become an IAS officer in 2015.

While actor Chinni would have wanted to see his son in the film industry, he is proud that his son chose a different career path and is an IAS officer now. Currently, Narayanan serves as the sub-collector of Tamil Nadu’s Trippur district.
