Millions of aspirants across the country nurture the dream of becoming an IAS or IPS officer by cracking the UPSC exam, which is regarded as one of India’s toughest exams. Every year, lakhs of aspirants sit for the exam, however, only a fortunate few clear the coveted exam.

But, IAS Smita Sabharwal is different from all. While many UPSC aspirants take several attempts to clear the exam, IAS Smita cleared it in her first attempt, only at the age of 22. Yes, you read that right!

According to a report in DNA India, she was only 22 when she cleared the exam and became one of the youngest female IAS officers in India. She secured AIR-4 in 2000 and became an IAS officer.

Born to a retired Army colonel in Darjeeling, West Bengal, IAS Smita was a brilliant student from her school days. After retirement, her father settled in Hyderabad and Smita did her schooling at St Ann’s and her graduation in commerce from St Francis.

She was also the class topper in her Class 12 exam. However, it was her dream to become an IAS officer and she fulfilled her dream at the age of just 22.

Now, she is a proud IAS officer and is popularly known as the people’s officer. She has been posted in several places in Telangana including Chittoor, Karimnagar, Visakhapatnam and Warangal.

She is also an avid social media follower and calls herself an ‘Army brat’ in her Twitter bio.
