Ahead of the reopening of schools and other educational institutions on February 7, the Odisha School and Mass Education Departments on Friday released the schedule of teaching hours for students from classes 1 to 12.

In a letter to the institutions, the Secretary, School and Mass Education department, Bishnupada Sethi said that the teaching hours for students in all the educational institutions under the School and Mass Education Department has been fixed by the government.

Accordingly, the teaching hours for the classes 1 to 8 will be from 10 am to 1 pm. Similarly, classes for the students of Class 9 to 12 will be held from 10 am to 4 pm. The School and Mass Education Department has stated that the distribution of dry ration under the Mid-day meal programme will continue for the eligible students until further orders.

On Thursday, the Odisha government had decided to resume physical mode of teaching in all schools and other educational institutions from February 7 (Monday). As per the decision, physical classes for students from Class 8 to 12, along with colleges, universities and other technical institutions will resume from February 7.

However, classes for students from KG to Class 7 will reopen from February 14.

In another development, the Higher Education Department on Friday asked the authorities of State Public Universities and Degree Colleges to resume classroom teaching and other academic activities in physical mode.

In a letter, the Higher Education Department has asked the authorities to take the necessary steps for the resumption of physical mode of teaching in Universities and Degree Colleges under its administrative control from February 7 by observing all possible Covid-19 preventive protocols.

The Higher Education Department has directed the concerned authorities to initiate measures for the reopening of hostels and other residential facilities for the accommodation of students from February 6.
