Over 14 lakh students across Odisha attended physical classes on the first day as the State government resumed offline teaching for students of Class VIII to XII from Monday.

Of the 24,45,407 enrolled students in 37,533 schools across the State, 14,42,790 students turned up in the classrooms today.

Deogarh reported the maximum attendance in the Higher Secondary level with as many as 85 percent students attending the offline classes. Similarly, in Secondary level, Deogarh district attained 91 per cent attendance on the first day. 

Kendrapara district reported the highest of 77 per cent attendance in Elementary Schools (Class-VIII). 

Prior to the opening of schools, teachers and other staff carried out cleaning and sanitization work over the weekend. 

Meanwhile, teachers have been instructed to adhere to Covid appropriate behavior like thermal scanning, maintaining physical distancing and wearing mask. 

The teachers and supervisory officials have further been asked to report any health related issues of the students and staff to appropriate authorities for urgent attention. 

A special Cell has been opened at OSEPA and in S&ME Department to monitor the current school reopening developments.
