The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to extend the eligibility condition for private candidates who will be appearing for the compartment exams along with Term 2 Board examinations.

In a latest notice, the CBSE has stated that the candidates who appeared in Main 2020 under full subject category and were placed in compartment and who could not clear their compartment examination in subsequent chances, will also be eligible to register and appear as private candidates in the compartment examinations being conducted with Term-2 examinations 2022 for both classes 10 and 12.

“This decision has been taken as a special one-time measure for session 2021-22 only considering the special circumstances,” the CBSE notice read.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Board is conducting the class 10 and class 12 board exams in two terms this year. While the term 1 board exam is currently being held nationwide, the term 2 exam will be held in March-April. The term 2 exam is subject to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.

Earlier, the Board had released two notices -on November 27, 2021 for submission of examination forms by private candidates for class 12, and, on November 29 regarding submission of forms by private candidates for class 10 exams.

Only the following category of candidates were eligible for registration as private candidates for the compartment examinations being conducted with Term-2 examinations 2022 for both classes 10 and 12:

(a) Candidates who have been placed in Compartment in Main 2021 examination

(b) Candidates who have been placed in Compartment in August/September-2021.
