Soon after the announcement of dates for the conduct of JEE Main exam by the National Testing Agency (NTA), students have started demanding the postponement of the exam.

Several aspirants took to social media platforms to press for their demand to postpone the JEE Main exam 2022. The students also demanded four attempts for this year, like it was the case last year, as it has been put back to the original pattern of the exam.

It is pertinent to mention here that the exam was conducted four times last year to offer flexibility to students and chances to improve their scores in view of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

A Twitterati wrote, "JEE main should conduct in 3 or 4 attempts, if not possible then conduct 1 in May and 2nd in July. For this advance should postpone."

“12th batch 2022 have 2 give Practicals, Pre-Board & Board Exams (Term 1 & Term 2). Therefore 4 attempts will ensure that all students from every board get at least 2-3 fair chances,” wrote another Twitter user.

This year, as per the NTA, the first phase of the engineering entrance exam will be conducted from April 16 to 21, and the second phase from May 24 to 29. The JEE Main will comprises two papers.

Paper one is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes - BE and B.Tech - at NITs, IIITs and other centrally-funded technical institutions, and institutions and universities funded and recognised by participating state governments.

It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Similarly, Paper two is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
