  • Applications will be invited from desirous Colleges through SAMS portal

The Odisha government has formally initiated the process for increasing seats in Plus 2 colleges in order ensure that students who have passed the Class 10 examinations will not face any problem while seeking admission for further studies.

The State School and Mass Education Department today released a notification inviting online application from Higher Secondary Schools that are desirous to increase seats in their respective institutions.

The move came after recently-passed Class 10 students in the State expressed apprehension of scarcity of seats in Plus 2 colleges citing high pass percentage in the annual high school certificate examinations (HSC).

In the notification issued by the S&ME department today, Additional Secretary Subhashree Nanda informed that the government has accorded permission for inviting online applications from Plus 2 colleges for an increase in seats.

The applications will be invited through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal for 7 days from the seeking Higher Secondary Schools for increase of seats for the academic session 2021-22.

The Director of Higher Secondary Education has been directed to take necessary steps in this regard.

Earlier on June 28, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash had assured smooth and hassle-free enrolment at higher secondary schools and technical institutions amid apprehension of scarcity of seats among the Class 10 students.

“No students would suffer due to scarcity of seats,” the Minister had said.
