The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha has proposed to conduct the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) examination 2022 in the first week of September. The board has already began preparations in this regard.

It is learnt that the government is mulling over conducting a common eligibility test from now onwards to select teachers for both primary and secondary schools apart from bringing in other reforms.

Therefore, the test proposed in the first week of September will exclusively be conducted for the in-service teachers (non-OTET).

The government had intimated certain reforms in conduct of Teacher Eligibility Test, wherein it has been suggested to conduct only one Common Teacher Eligibility Test to select teachers for both Secondary and Primary,” BSE secretary said in a letter to additional secretary of School and Mass Education (S&ME) department.

“Subsequently, the board had been asked to conduct the OTET examination for the benefit of in-service (Non-OTET) teachers and teacher aspirants,” the letter added.

The BSE said after discussion with the principal secretary, it has started preparations for conduct of the examination.

“The board has already started preparations to conduct the examination and proposed to conduct the examination in the first week of September, 2022, because of two scholarship examinations scheduled for the month of August,” the BSE secretary stated.

The BSE secretary has urged the S&ME additional secretary to communicate the order regarding conduct of the OTET for in-service teachers at an early date for taking necessary action.
