Keeping in mind the COVID restrictions that has hampered preparations of the students appearing for the Class-10 exams, the Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Assocoaition (OSSTA) on Thursday released a test paper for them.

The test paper which is aimed at helping students to prepare for the exams has been compiled by selected teachers across the State and was released at the OSSTA office at Nayasarak in Cuttack today.

Prakash Chandra Mohanty, the General Secretary of OSSTA said that the COVID restrictions and subsequent lockdowns have impacted the study and preparations of the students. “This test paper will certainly help them address the issues,” he said.

“The syllabus of class-10 has been reduced by 30%. In fact, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has even altered its examination frame work to a large extent, ultimately leaving the students confused,” Mohanty added.

“This test paper will certainly help students who could not get much time to clear their doubts on all subjects owing to online classes,” he added.

Ahead of the 2022 Matriculation examination, the BSE, Odisha had come up with a new scheme of assessment for the session 2021-22 for both Classes 9 and 10 students.

The new scheme of assessment came in the backdrop of the closure of schools and disruptions in the conduct of examinations due to Covid-19 since 2020. The Class 10 Board or the annual Matriculation examination had to be cancelled this year due to the second wave of the Covid pandemic.

New Scheme For 2021-22

The Academic Session for 2021-22 will be from July 2021 to April, 2022 without any long vacation. The Academic Session will be divided into two terms- the first term will be from July, 2021 to November, 2021 and the second term from December, 2021 to April, 2022.

The internal assessments will be conducted at the school level in line with the pattern of CCE. It will be done by the class/ subject teachers periodically in continuous manner, in the form of Formative Assessments (FAs). Each Formative Test will be of 20 marks.

Formative Assessments (FAs) for the Class 9 students will be held in first week of September, November (first week), January (second week) and in March (second week). Similarly, the Formative Assessments (FAs) for Class 10 students to be held in the first week of September, November (first week), January (second week) and in March (second week).
