Opening of new higher secondary schools: Odisha govt seeks several records for nod

216 agencies apply for new higher secondary schools in Odisha. Directorate seeks fire safety and land documents by May 23, 2025.

A whopping 216 educational agencies in different parts of Odisha have applied for opening of new higher secondary schools. The proposed new higher secondary schools are likely to offer education in arts, science and commerce streams.

After scrutiny of application of the educational agencies through SAMS, the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha has asked to submit several documents for necessary consideration.

As per the letter issued on May 8, the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education has sought submission of fire safety certificate from the competent authority.

Apart from this, the educational agencies have also been asked to submit several land documents with the below-mentioned criteria:

In case of a rural area, the requirement is a compact plot measuring not less than 6000 square metres, and in case of urban area, not less than 4000 square metres.

In case of ownership, the land title documents should be a sale deed/ conveyance deed/ gift deed/ lease deed/ allotment letter, duly registered before the Registration Authority concerned as per rules.

In case of lease, the lease deed of the land/building should be duly registered before the concerned Registration Authority and should be for a minimum effective term of 15 years.

A lease executed by a government or any agency of the government may be accepted even if it is for a term of less than 15 years, but the lease should specifically be for running a school.

“It is therefore requested to submit the above required documents through the email: dhseodishahpc@gmail.com or by post, latest by 23.05.2025, positively for further necessary action at this end,” the official letter of the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education read.
