The Odisha Higher Education Department has planned to provide free coaching and guidance to aspirants to appear for Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The government will provide coaching free of cost to 200 aspirants this year.

In a letter, Higher Education department Joint Secretary Dhirendra Nath Kar has directed the General Manager of OCAC to develop new module for UPSC Civil Services coaching enrolment under SAMS portal.

The Department will also facilitate the accommodation of all the 200 aspirants. The best 200 aspirants will be provided with best coaching for both Preliminary and Main examinations.

However, the enrolment for the coaching will be done through an entrance examination.

The pre-qualifying examination is scheduled to be held on February 26. Aspirants have to apply for enrolment for the entrance examination as well as download their admit cards through online on the Higher Education Department website.

Last year, the higher education department had given free coaching to aspirants who had cleared the civil services prelims. Only Odia students from any educational institute within the state are eligible to avail the free coaching after clearing the entrance examination.

However, those who had cleared their Prelims in the UPSC exams did not need to appear for the entrance test and got direct admission for the coaching.

Last year, however, only students whose family income did not exceed Rs 10 lakh per annum were deemed eligible.
