After the dates and modalities of the Odisha Matric exams-2022 was announced on Monday, the Class 12 students who will be appearing the Board exams feel dejected and left out as the State Higher Education Department is yet to decide on the exam dates.

Pertinent to mention here that the mode of the examination- offline or online- has not been decided by the Board so far.

At a time when the schedules for Class-12 exams of CBSE and ICSE boards have already been announced, the State Board students and their parents raised questions on the intention of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Monday.

While urging the Odisha government to look into their concerns, the students said that early announcement of the Plus 2 exam dates will help them concentrate in their preparations for the crucial exam.

Class 12 student, Dibya Bharati Priyadarshini, said, “Forget the dates, we don’t even know the pattern and mode of the examination. At least we need to know whether the government wants us to appear offline or on online mode for our exams.”

Similarly, another student, Pratham Prateek Hota, said, “We are under tremendous pressure. We are completely clueless how to prepare for the exams.”

Parents and educationists have conveyed their worry over the inordinate delay by the Board. Former Deputy Controller, Exams, CHSE, Prabodha Kumar Panda said, “We are already in the middle of March and the students do not know if they will appear offline or online exams. I think the CHSE is at fault here. It should immediately release the dates and other modalities of the exams.”

“The State government should positively announce the Class 12 exam dates as it will help students get out the stress they are presently going through, said president of Utkal Abhibhabak Sangha, Krushna Chandra Pati.
