After a gap of almost two years, physical classes for Class I to VII students are all set to resume in schools across Odisha from February 28 (tomorrow). The State School and Mass Education Department has drawn elaborate plans to welcome children back to the school.

However, the first week will be utilised in interacting and engaging the students with several activities which have been planned by the concerned authorities, said School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday.

According to Dash, a crucial meeting was held with senior officials of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and subsequently, special plans have been made for mind refreshing activities for students.

“As the students stayed away from schools for long years, several mind refreshing activities will be done for one week. There will be interactive sessions and students will be asked to write how they spent their time and other activities during this period,” said Dash.

The entire idea is to focus on the emotional well-being of the students by creating a stress-free, enjoyable learning environment in schools. Such activities have been made as part of the rapport building exercises which will be taken up after the schools reopen tomorrow, he said.

Earlier, the State government had announced to reopen schools for the students from February 14. However, the decision had to be postponed in view of the three-tier Panchayat elections conducted in five phases, which ended on February 24.
