The School and Mass Education Department on Thursday rescheduled the timings of classes in schools for students up to standard 12 in view of the prevailing heat wave condition in the State.

As per the notification issued by the department, the timings have been revised to mitigate effects of the heat wave situation on students during summer season.

As per the decision, students from standard 1 to 8 will have to attend their classes from 6:30 am to 10:30 am. Similarly, classes for standard 9 to 12 will be conducted from 7 am to 11:30 am.

The revised timings will be applicable to all educational institutions under the School and Mass Education, government aided and privately managed schools. The timings will be in force from April 2, 2022.

Apart from this, the State government has also decided to allow cooked food under the midday meal programme to the eligible students from the month of April.

As per the latest government notification, the school authorities have been directed to make adequate provision for drinking water in their respective institutions. The students have also been advised to use umbrella during the summer season.

“The date for summer vacation will be notified in subsequent period. Covid-19 protocols will continue to be followed by all educational institutions across the State,” the notification added.
