Utkal University in Bhubaneswar
Odisha's education landscape is witnessing a noteworthy transformation. To streamline the university admission process, the state's Higher Education Department has allowed students to apply for undergraduate (UG) courses before receiving their Plus Two examination results.
This new measure is set to overhaul the traditional system, which required students to wait for the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) results before application submissions. This innovation aims to minimise delays and facilitate swift seat allocation.
Students awaiting their exam results need only select an 'appeared' status on their application, thanks to the Common Application Form (CAF) now available on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. The department has set a deadline of 20 May for online applications, with the provision to make revisions on 21 and 22 May.
To support the transition, a 10-day window will be provided after the release of CHSE results, during which students can update their application with their actual marks. This alleviates a significant burden, as those who appeared for CHSE exams do not have to enter their marks manually; the data will be automatically retrieved from the council's database.
Odisha's Education Department anticipates that this approach will enhance the efficiency of the overall admission process, providing students with a more cohesive and time-efficient application experience.
