The Odisha government’s Department of Higher Education (DHE) has issued an important notice regarding refund of admission fees to the students taking CLC under the project Student Academic Management System (SAMS).

In a letter to chairman, PG Council (All state public universities coming under the department and principals of all government/non-government degree colleges, the higher education department has expressed concern over non-compliance.

It is pertinent to mention here that the higher education department has received several complaints from students and parents that some higher educational institutions (HEIs) are not refunding the admission fees to students taking admission in upper choice colleges or in other colleges from SAMS colleges to non-SAMS colleges.

Though the state government had issued several instructions to the higher educational institutions, some have not complied with the orders properly.

“It is hereby requested to refund the entire admission fees (excluding Rs 100 as processing fees) to those students who have taken CLC or will take CLC till the issuance of closure of e-admission from this academic session 2022-23 till further order,” the higher education department notification read.

As per the notification, this is applicable for the first year UG students (freshly admitted) only. “If any complaint on non-refund is proved, government will be compelled to take departmental action on that Higher Educational Institution,” the notification added.
