The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct the UGC-NET. The NTA has been conducting the UGC-NET in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode since December 2018 onwards.

The UGC-NET is conducted twice every year (June & December). However, due to the outbreak of COVID19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the cycles of UGC NET were merged and conducted together.

Similarly to regularize the UGC-NET examination cycle, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the concurrence of UGC, is conducting UGC NET December 2022 from 21 February 2023 to 10 March 2023.
