The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has extended the NEET PG 2023 internship cut-off date to June 30.

“The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Govt. of India vide its email dated 13.01.2023 has revised the cut-off date for completion of an internship for the purpose of eligibility for NEET-PG 2023 to 30th June 2023, the official notification read.

Online applications for NEET-PG 2023 are currently being invited at https://natboard.edu.in or https://nbe.edu.in.

Earlier, the cut-off date for completion of the internship towards eligibility for NEET PG 2023 was March 31.

Apart from the cut-off date for completion of the internship, rest of the terms and conditions as detailed in the bulletin shall remain unchanged.

Earlier, the Indian Medical Association, student union bodies, prospective candidates and several state authorities had urged the ministry to extend the eligibility date.

On January 7, the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) opposed the cut-off deadline and tweeted tagging the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, “Urgent action needed! FORDA calls for the postponement of NEET PG ‘23 eligibility deadline to protect the interests of interns across India. Current batch of most interns deemed ineligible-Unprecedented in history! Save their future!”

In another tweet, FORDA said, “NEET PG bulletin drops bombshell: internship completion date set for March,31 ‘23. >50% of interns ineligible, their career at stake. States altogether aren’t eligible. Will lead to demands of postponement and last-minute chaos. Urgent resolution needed.”
