Amid the demands by aspirants to postpone the NEET-MDS, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has finally extended the date of NEET-MDS 2022 by 4-6 weeks.

The date of completion of compulsory rotating internship for eligibility for admission to MDS courses has now been fixed at July 31, instead of March 31.

"It is informed that the matter has been examined in this Ministry and in order to bring parity between the NEET-MDS 2022 and NEET-PG 2022 examination, it has been decided by the Competent Authority that the date for conduct of NEET-MDS examination, 2022 may be postponed by 4-6 weeks and preferably around the same date as that for NEET-PG 2022," read an official release.

"...it has also been decided by the Competent Authority that the date of completion of compulsory rotating internship for eligibility for admission to MDS courses may be fixed at 31st July, 2022 instead of 31st March, 2022," it added.

Earlier, scores of medical aspirants took to Twitter and said that most of the interns would be ineligible to sit for the exams, as it requires aspirants to have completed their internships only by March 31, 2022.

The NEET aspirants also claimed that they were unable to start their internships at the right time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is worth mentioning that the NEET MDS 2021 batch failed to join in time due to the pandemic and hence, their session also got delayed and began in November 2021.
