PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

NCERT launches new textbooks for Classes 5 and 8 under NEP 2020, featuring innovative content to foster creativity, critical thinking, and skill-based learning.

School Students

In a major stride towards implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched a new set of textbooks for Classes 5 and 8. These books are designed in alignment with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023, aiming to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and conceptual clarity among young learners.

Fresh Content to Inspire Young Minds

NCERT announced the launch through a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the introduction of innovative and engaging content. For Class 8, the new additions include “Curiosity” – a Science textbook designed to spark inquisitiveness, and “Kaushal Bodh” – a Vocational Education textbook that focuses on skill-based learning.

In addition, the Hindi textbook “Malhar” and the English textbook “Poorvi” for Class 8, as well as “Kriti” – an Art textbook, have been unveiled to promote holistic development.
For Class 5 students, NCERT has released “Veena” (Hindi), “Santoor” (English), and other updated materials to provide a rich and diverse learning experience.

Building on Previous Milestones

This launch follows NCERT’s earlier release of NEP 2020-aligned textbooks for Classes 1, 2, 3, and 6 in previous years. The initiative underscores the council’s commitment to transitioning towards an education system that is learner-centric and future-ready.

A Future of Engaged Learning

With these new textbooks, NCERT aims to make classrooms more dynamic, interactive, and conducive to nurturing 21st-century skills. As India steps into a new era of education, these resources are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping curious and capable young minds.
