  • National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched online courses which can support continuous learning of students in virtual mode.

The current wave of Covid-19 has adversely affected the education process in the entire country. In view of the pandemic situation, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched online courses which can support continuous learning of students in virtual mode.

The Ministry of Education had launched a platform for offering Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), popularly known as SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) in July 2017.

NCERT has been offering online courses for the school education system in the 11 subjects including -Accountancy, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, English, and Sociology) for classes XI and XII.

As per a notice issued by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the online courses for classes XI and XII are being offered by NCERT from April 2021 till September 2021 on SWAYAM portal.

Apart from this, NCERT is also running two online courses on the DIKSHA Platform for capacity building of teachers. The links for these Courses are given below:

NOTE: These courses will be open till 31st July 2021.

It is pertinent to mention here that the University Grants Commission (UGC) had earlier announced to offer 83 Under Graduate (UG) and 40 Post Graduate (PG) Non-Engineering MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) in the July 2021 semester on its SWAYAM platform.

In a letter to all the Vice Chancellors of Universities and Principals of colleges, the Commission had wrote, “In the current scenario of the second wave of the COVID-19, Universities & Colleges are requested to make optimum use of the SWAYAM online platform for the benefit of the students/learners.”
