The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released sample paper, marking scheme and question bank for all subjects. Students can download the sample paper from the official website, i.e. cbseacademic.nic.in.

The CBSE will conduct the Class 10 board exams 2022-23 from February 15 onwards while the practical exams are scheduled to begin in January.

Have a look at the question paper and the marking scheme of CBSE’s Class 10 English paper:

Students will get 3 hours time to attempt the paper (as per the sample paper), and the maximum marks for the English theory paper is 80 marks. Additional 15 minutes will be given to students to read the question paper.

CBSE Class 10 English exam sections

  • Section A: Reading Skills 

  • Section B: Grammar and Writing  

  • Section C: Literature

Section A has two passages in this section. Students have to answer twenty short questions in this section. Total marks of this section will be 20.

Section B has two sub-sections, one is Grammar and other is Creative writing skills. In Grammar section, students have to attempt 10 questions out of 13. In Creative writing sub-section, students have to write a letter and a paragraph. Total marks of this section will be 20.

In Section C, students have to attempt two sets of questions based on extracts for 5 marks each.

There are six 3-marks questions, out of which students have to answer four, in about 40-50 words each. The internal choices will be given in the question paper.

It also contains a sub-section in which students have to answer any two out of three questions in about 40-50 words each.

At last, students have to answer two 6-marks questions in about 100-120 words.  Total marks of this section will be 40.
