The UPSC exam is of such high calibre that only a small percentage of aspirants manage to qualify the India’s toughest exam. Aspirants have to work hard day and night to fulfill their IAS and IPS dreams.

Today, we will talk about Kuldeep Dwivedi, son of a security guard, who secured an impressive AIR-242 in the 2015 Civil Services Examination. Born in a low-income household in Sheikhpur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Nigoh district, Kuldeep was a brilliant student since childhood.

Despite not having basic facilities at his house, Kuldeep never let adversity get in the way of his education. He studied well and was always a top ranker in his school and college. While his parents wanted him to settle down with a government job, Kuldeep had different plans.

He completed his post-graduation and decided to prepare for the UPSC exam. With a serious financial crisis in the family, he decided not to sign up for any UPSC coaching programmes. Instead, he focused on self-preparation and borrowed books to help with his independent study from friends and former candidates.

He demonstrated the most important qualities are diligence and fortitude in the face of adversity. His achievements are a brilliant example of perseverance and unselfish dedication. His hard work paid off and he secured an impressive AIR-242 in his first attempt and decided to join the IRS (Indian Revenue Service).
